Privacy Policy

Mado is a local-first Markdown workspace for macOS. We designed it so that your documents stay on your own device, and we collect as little personal information as possible. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

1. Your documents stay on your device

Mado opens and edits Markdown files directly on your Mac. Your files, folders, and document contents are never uploaded to our servers and are never transmitted to us. Editing, previewing, and exporting all happen locally on your device.

2. Information we collect

We only collect personal information when you choose to create an account or sign in:

• Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. We do not receive your Google password.
• Purchase records. If you purchase or unlock paid templates, we keep a record of your entitlement so that your purchases are available across your sessions.

We do not collect or read the contents of the documents you edit in Mado.

3. How we use information

We use the information above only to:

• Authenticate you and keep you signed in;
• Grant access to templates or features you have purchased;
• Provide customer support and respond to your requests;
• Keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

4. Google user data

When you sign in with Google, Mado's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We request only basic profile and email scopes needed to identify your account. We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not sell it.

5. Service providers

We use the following third parties to operate accounts and sign-in. They process data only on our behalf:

• Google — for authentication when you sign in with Google.
• Supabase — for authentication and storing your account profile and purchase records.

6. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties except the service providers listed above, or when required by law.

7. Data retention and deletion

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us at the address below. Because your documents live on your device, deleting your account does not affect your local files.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.

9. Children's privacy

Mado is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Mado after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
